He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyman J. House and Vera Jane House; his siblings, Frances H. Baker and Lyman J. House, Jr.; and his wife Elizabeth "Betsy" Herrink.

He is survived by: his children, William M. House of Portland, Virginia H. Grigg (Kenneth) of Richmond and Carol H. House of Richmond. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Endowment Fund or The Alzheimer's Foundation.
