She was predeceased by: her mother Elise Taylor Carpenter of Tarboro, NC; and her niece Sharon. She is survived by: her father John Robert Carpenter; her sister Virginia; her husband Mack T. Ruffin, III; her son Dr. Mack T. Ruffin, IV (Kathy Carter); her grandsons, Noah and Sean (Julia); her daughter Margaret Ruffin Horvath; her grandson Stephen; her daughter Susan Ruffin Clark (H. Duffey Clark, Jr.); her granddaughter Shelby (Andy); her great grandchildren, Caden and Kennedy; her granddaughter Samantha (Chris); and her great grandchildren, Charlotte and Sophie. She is also survived by four nephews and numerous cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church (6000 Grove Ave, Richmond, VA 23226). A burial will be held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Greenwood Cemetery (1298 Peach St, Tarboro, NC 27886).
