He was predeceased by: his wife Shirley Crews Walker; and his son Douglas Kay Walker. He is survived by: his son John Richard Walker "Rick" (Susan Walker); his daughter-in-law Debra Walker; his granddaughter Karen W. Seward (John Seward); and his great grandchild Jay Seward. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
