He was predeceased by: his parents, Frances Cole Clarkson and Thomas Simons Clarkson; and his sister Ellen Clarkson Gilliam. He is survived by: his wife Jan; his sons, Thomas Simons Clarkson II, Miles Hardy Clarkson (Charlotte) and Edward Cole Clarkson (Macon); and his grandchildren, Thomas, Lila, Whitney, Adelaide, Libby and Conway.
