It is with sadness that the passing of Rosemary Lee Abbott of Richmond, Virginia is shared. Rosemary, born on March 9, 1941, passed away on October 7, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Willis Robert Abbott and Marybelle Poole; and her brothers, Willis Abbott Jr., Lawrence William Abbott and Kenneth Clay Abbott.
She is survived by: her nieces, Heather Abbott Mitchell (David Mitchell), Michelle Abbott Hessler (Jay Hessler) and Sarah Abbott; her nephew Heath Abbott (Shaune Abbott); her sister-in-law Susan Abbott; her cousin Leroy Poole; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Caris German, Ella Vyborny, Eva Abbott, Stephen Abbott, Rece German, Liam Abbott, Landon Vyborny and Cole Hessler.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Homes (106 E Church St, Frederick, MD 21701).
Her contributions to the profession and to the University of Virginia were recognized in 2007, when she was honored as a UVA Distinguished Alumna.
