She was predeceased by: her parents, Johnny Cole and Blanche Wyche Cole; her brothers, John Jr., Bernard, James and Leroy Cole; her daughter Karen Wedington; her great grandchild Kenijah Moosi; and her sons-in-law, Irwin Dickerson and Earl T. Martin.

She is survived by: her sister Ethel Mae Basstte; her aunts, Dorthy Ellis and Ruth Wyche; her uncle Alexander "Tim" Wyche; her friend Earleen Flemming; her granddaughter Okesha Wedington; her children, Shelia Anderson, Lesa, Melvin Gary, Stanley Gary and Jamaal Taylor; her adoptive sons, Samuel Starke and Shawn Burchette; her children-in-law, Donelle Anderson and Valerie Gary; Martin. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
