He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Jefferson Creed and Juanita Whitmore Creed; his son Jeffrey L. Creed; his siblings, Robert E. Creed and Carol Greiner; and his close friend H. E. Timberlake, III.

He is survived by: his wife Sandra P. Creed; his children, James T. Creed (Danelle) and Debra C. Purks (C. C.); his grandchildren, Hillary Ritter, James T. Creed, Jr. (Isabelle), Darcy Creed, Spencer Purks, Courtney Purks, Rachel Ritter and Anna Ritter; his sister Patricia Wood (Robley); his close friend Carole Timberlake; and his pets, Rocky and Pepper. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
