He was predeceased by : his parents, Richard Cottrell and Elsie Middleton Cottrell; and his siblings, Edna Queen, William L. Cottrell, Thelma Jean Cottrell and Betty C. Brown.

He is survived by : his grandchildren, Radeja, Tahniya, Thomas III, Tania, Marell, William, Tionna, Laniya, JehMiyah, Demi, Jay'Cieon, LaKy and Delwin; and his great grandchildren, Niylah and Brooklyn.
