He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Comer and Catherine Spalding Comer; and his daughter Dawn Maria Boyer. He is survived by: his wife Victoria Joan Thurston Boyer; his sons, Robert Boyer, Jr. (Bobby), Kyle Boyer (Samantha), Steven Kerns, Ricky Lee Kerns and David Kerns; his siblings, Julie Tegi, Kim Howington (Eddie), Hal Comer and Randy Comer; and his grandchildren, Dylan Boyer, Collin Boyer, Brady Boyer, Colton Boyer, Harlee Boyer, Isaiah Kerns, Tyler Williams and Donnie Kerns.
Visitation was held on Thursday, August 27th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Rich Acres Christian Church (422 Mountain View Rd, Martinsville, VA 24112). A memorial service was held on Thursday, August 27th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
