Family, friends, and acquaintances remember Susan for her warmth, thoughtfulness, and the moments shared together. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Early Hairston, Sr. and Betty Clarice Hairston; and her sister Dianne Hairston. She is survived by: her children, Defaria Gamble, Dania Gamble and Jermaine Gamble; and her siblings, Kathy Walton, Carla Hayes, Rhonda Hayes, Pam Hairston, Cathy Redd, John E. Hairston, Jr. (Adrien) and Charles Fontaine. She is also survived by three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, August 30th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Wright Funeral Service Martinsville Chapel (1425 Greensboro Rd, Martinsville, VA 24112).
