He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Fate Ayers and Elizabeth Edwards Ayers; his wife Betty Lou Haynes Ayers; his children, Mary Etta Wilkins, Teresa Ellen Silvey, Fonzo Ayers, Sr., Yancy Stanley Ayers and Michael David Ayers; his siblings, Carrie May Harrel, Pearlie May Ayers, June Ayers, William Ayers, Jerry Ayers, Robert Lee Ayers, Grate Brittian Ayers and Esau Jacob Ayers; and his granddaughter Cheyenne Biegar.
He is survived by: his daughter Brenda Ferguson (Dennis); his siblings, Lou Amy Malkemes (Bill), Gilbert Ayers (Faye), Lonnie Ayers and Arthur Franklin Ayers; and his daughter Dottie. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; special friend.
Visitation was held on Sunday, October 18th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Wright Funeral Service Martinsville Chapel. A funeral service was held on Monday, October 19th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Martinsville Church of Truth (1376 Joseph Martin Hwy, Martinsville, VA 24112).
