She was predeceased by : her parents, Raymond Maxey and Gladys Maxey; and her brother Donald Maxey. She is survived by : her husband Robert Sterling Thornhill (Bob); her children, Lisa Thornhill, Gary Thornhill (Charlotte), Darryl Thornhill and Mark Thornhill (Angela); her grandchildren, Stone Thornhill, Knox Thornhill and Lauren Thornhill; and her great grandchildren, Andrew Harig and Jack Harig.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Oakey's South Chapel (4257 Brambleton Ave, Cave Spring, VA 24018). A burial was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Evergreen Burial Park (1307 Summit Ave SW, Roanoke, VA 24015).

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests showing acts of kindness to others, or making a memorial to a charity of choice.
