He is survived by: his wife Carole Putnam; his stepdaughters, Lori Miller (Frank), Shana Reed (Chris) and Elizabeth Miller (Chip); his sisters, Rebecca Simmons (Mike), Deborah Markley and Dawn Bailey (Clinton); and his brother-in-law Davey Phillips. He is also survived by 8 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Oakey's Vinton Chapel (627 Hardy Rd, Vinton, VA 24179).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Angels of Assisi or the Public Broadcasting Service in his memory.
