With sadness, we share the passing of Cheryl Darlene Nicely (Roanoke, Virginia). Cheryl, born on October 10, 1947, passed away on September 20, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Family, friends, and acquaintances remember Cheryl for her warmth, thoughtfulness, and the moments shared together. While she will be deeply missed, the influence she had on the lives around her remains. Loved ones will reflect on the time spent together. Cheryl’s memory will live on in the hearts of friends and family, a lasting reminder of the connections and experiences she brought to the world.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Carlous Nicely and Bonnie Elise Nicely; her brother Darrell; and her nephew Darrin Nicely. She is survived by: her partner Kim Pitts; and her siblings, C. R. Nicely (Donna), Janice Deyerle, Pam McKittrick and Beth Colonna.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Oakey's North Chapel (6732 Peters Crk Rd NW, Roanoke, VA 24019). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
Donations in Cheryl's memory may be made to the local ALS chapter, the SPCA, the DNM Scholarship Fund in memory of her nephew Darrin, or the national I Am ALS organization. In lieu of flowers, we invite you to start a plant, tree, or flower in Cheryl's memory-something living that will continue to grow and remind you of her.
