We announce the death of Doris Simmons of Roanoke, Virginia, who passed away on July 25, 2026, at the age of 90. Doris will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Maxey and Beulah Maxey; her husband Joseph Simmons; her son Steven Simmons; and her siblings, Willard Maxey and Lydia Green.
She is survived by: her children, Karen Simmons, Janet Scott and Beckie Wilkerson (Jimmy); her daughter-in-law Kathy Simmons; her grandchildren, Misty, Alan, Amy, Jacob, Ashley, Matthew, Cheyenne, Deborah and Ryan; her great grandchildren, Britany, Cameron, Sierra, Sophia, Adalynn, Miranda, Dakota, Anna, Clarice, Freya, Amanda and Zachary; and her great great grandchildren, Naphari, Kahmoni, Lilly, Layla and Kinsleigh. She is also survived by Numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers you can send contributions in her name to Saint Judes Children Hospital or Riverdale Baptist Church.
