He was predeceased by: his girlfriend Judith Goins. He is survived by: his sister Linda Hodges; his children, Trevor Goins (Cristi) and Beth Price (Chris); and his grandchildren, Haley, Nate Goins, Celia and Calie Felter.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made in Gary's name, to the Roanoke Valley SPCA Judith Goins Behavior Assistance Program.
