Geraldine leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Geraldine’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around her. Though she is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support she offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Geraldine will carry forward her memory in their hearts.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Brown Douglas and Lillie Lavinder Hailey. She is survived by: her husband Eugene Butler; her daughter Beth Ryan (Michael) of Chevy Chase; and her grandchildren, Timothy Ryan (Brennan) of Washington, DC, Patrick Ryan of Chevy Chase and Maura Ryan of Atlanta, Georgia.. She is also survived by three nieces, three nephews and many extended family members, friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Oakey's Roanoke Chapel (318 Church Ave SW, Roanoke, VA 24016). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Heights Community Church, 2014 Memorial Avenue, SW, Roanoke, Virginia 24015.
