She was predeceased by: her parents, James Clyde and Fannie Elizabeth Adkins Gibson; her husband Arthur J. Johnson Jr.; her siblings, Nelson Berthel, Robert Lee of Callands and Betty Evelyn Dail of Virginia Beach; and her nieces, Carolyn, Wanda Gail Gibson of Callands and Kristen Swanson Gibson Cox of Danville.
She is survived by: her children, Tina Marie Saunders Lowe (Tony) of Glenwood and Jesse C. "Jay" Saunders Jr. (Becky) of Scruggs; her grandson Jessee C. Saunders III (Ashley); her great grandchild Jesse C. Saunders IV of Scruggs; her brother Gerald Alden Gibson of Danville; her sibling's children, Michelle Gamboni (Dale) of Chesapeake, Nicole Walker (Trey) and Eric Gamboni of Chesapeake; her son Donald P. Johnson (Shasta); and her granddaughter Catherine Elizabeth Johnson of Mableton.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Oakey's East Chapel (5188 Cloverdale Rd, Roanoke, VA 24019). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
