She is survived by: her daughter Missy Paxton; her siblings, Opal Caldwell, Carrie Crawford and Dwight Bradley (London Bradley); and her stepgrandson Willie Orr. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

“Helen was my aunt though marriage. When I changed jobs and relocated to Roanoke, Virginia, Helen opened her home and provided me with a place to stay. She loved me like a son. Helen was loving, kind and generous. The happiest memory with Helen is playing games with her daughter, my wife and myself. We laughed so much, and I also felt so happy when I left. Helen, with her daughter’s help, fault so hard and was determined to live as much as she could. I love you Helen and will miss you.”
