With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Arnold Davis (Roanoke, Virginia), who passed away on October 7, 2025 at the age of 80. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of James Arnold Davis to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold William Davis and Frances Ross Davis; his sister Beteena Davis Woods; and his grandson Joshua Isaac Davis. He is survived by: his wife Janet Copple Davis; his children, Barclay Ross Davis (Stacy), Andrew James Davis (Janine) and Stephanie Leighton Davis Landes (Nick); and his siblings, Joseph Davis and Betty McClaugherty. He is also survived by nine grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 14th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM and on Sunday, November 16th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 14th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church (1837 Grandin Rd SW, Roanoke, VA 24015).

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that memorial contributions be made to the following organizations that reflect Jim's lifelong commitment to education and community service: James A. Davis Scholarship Fund - Shenandoah University, James and Janet Davis Fund - Northern Shenandoah Valley Community Foundation, Roanoke Area Ministries (RAM), Manatee Community FoundationBorn in April 1945 in Marion, Virginia, Jim dedicated his life to education, family, and public service.

“I am truly saddened by this news. Jim was a good friend and the type of man that I would like to be some day. He was an inspiration to me. I enjoyed playing golf with him. My nick name for him was Gentlemen Jim. He truly was respected and his love for our community was unsurpassed. My heart today is wounded by this news. May God Bless his family and know they will miss him as well. We will keep all in our prayers.”
