He was predeceased by : his father John H. Boettjer Sr.. He is survived by : his wife Tammy Guthrie-Boettjer; his children, Lamay (Kevin), John H. Boettjer III, Mercedes (Nick), Kayla, Austin, Jazmyn and Lexi; his grandchildren, Landyn Perkins, Jack Swartz, Adam Swartz and Jadon Adams; his mother Rebecca Hopper Boettjer; his siblings, Brian, Mathew (Ashton), Tammy, Deborah (Vincent) and Andrea (Will); and also Megan. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM at the Simpson Funeral Home (5160 Peters Creek Rd, Roanoke, VA 24019). Visitation was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
