It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph Thomas Harwell (Roanoke, Virginia), who passed away on November 2, 2018, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Joseph Thomas Harwell to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Calvin Harwell and Isabelle Harwell; and his siblings, Susan, Jeannette, Welford and Calvin.

He is survived by: his wife Vicki Stone Harwell; his sons, Joseph F. Harwell and Crispin A. Harwell; his sisters, Paige, Barbara, Betty, Ann and Faye; his parents-in-law, Iris Stone and Blair Stone; and his friends, Martha Updike and Ronnie Updike.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway, PO Box 20986, Roanoke, VA 24018, would reflect Joe's love of nature and the many miles he and Vicki traveled that beautiful road together.Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home. (540) 366-0707.
