He is survived by : his sons, John "Jack" Armistead Thomas and William "Will" Cooke Thomas; his sister Catherine Lynn Thomas Boehmcke (Burke); his nephew Robert Benjamin; his nieces, Eleanor Armistead and Catherine Dearborn Boehmcke; and his uncle Dr. Edward Armistead Thomas (Tanya).
