She was predeceased by: her parents, Christopher Clark Shires and Lula May Baker Shires; her brothers, Ed Shires and Max Shires; and her daughters-in-law, Kim Harmon and Angie Harmon.
She is survived by: her husband Roy M. Gwyn; her sons, Christopher D. Harmon (Sonia Harmon) and Michael K. Harmon; her grandchildren, Courtney Harmon (Justin), Sara Massenburg (Jeremy), Michael Harmon, II and Christopher Harmon; her great grandchildren, Hallie Teal, Noah Massenburg and Coleman Massenburg; and her brother Benny Shires. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Oakey's South Chapel (4257 Brambleton Ave, Cave Spring, VA 24018). A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 9th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Roanoke (321 Marshall Ave SW, Roanoke, VA 24016).
In lieu of food and flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
