He was predeceased by: his wife Bettie Swain; his parents, Aremon Ratliff and Louise Ratliff; and his sisters, Frances Carr, Dorothy Payne, Jean Arthur and Nancy Walker. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Oakey's North Chapel (6732 Peters Creek Rd, Hollins, VA 24019). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location.
