He is survived by: his wife Rebecca Mines Thompson of Roanoke; his son Rick Thompson of Atlanta; his grandchildren, Michael and Chris Thompson of Atlanta; his stepsons, Fred Mines (Rosanna) of Arlington, VA and Jeff Mines of San Francisco; and his sister-in-law Mary Thompson of Columbus, Ohio..
