Robert McDonald Obituary
We are sad to announce that on November 26, 2023, at the age of 93, Robert McDonald (Roanoke, Virginia) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, George Blake McDonald, Sr. and Margaret Robertson McDonald; his siblings, Lillian McDonald and G. B. McDonald, Jr.; his sister-in-law Mary Doug McDonald; and his siblings' children, Martha Lynn Moretz, Karen, Gary, Mike and Don Garst.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Adele Garst McDonald; his daughters, Diane McDonald of Boulder and Brenda McDonald of Roanoke, Virginia.; his niece Becky Frame (Bub); his great-niece Sarah; his grandson Nathan Smith; his sister-in-law Wanda Garst Atkins; and also, Perry Moretz, Erin Hachwi and Bryan.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Stoney UMC (the small country church in Kimballton, VA, where Bob grew up) c/o Donna Altizer, 3993 Graveley Hill Road, Ripplemead, VA, 24150; or to K9sForWarriors.org (an organization that matches veterans with PTSD with shelter dogs).
