He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Hodges and Lucy Hodges; his wives, Vernell Moran Hodges and Peggy Toney Hodges; his siblings, Eunice Altis, Edgar Hodges, Elizabeth Overstreet, Rachel Via, Clyde Hodges, William Hodges, Dorothy Walker, Nadine King, Loretta Prillaman, Walter Hodges, Jackie Hodges and Johnny Hodges; and his grandson Ben Hutto.
He is survived by: his sister Margie Freeman; his sister-in-law Martha Hodges; his daughters, Sylvia Hutto (Chuck), Vicki Hodges, Debra Arthur (Steve), Carol Gibson, Sheila Kriesel (Warren) and Beth Wilkes (Richard); his stepdaughter Linda Ginther (Ben); his grandchildren, Lindsay Hurt (Kevin), Cameron Hutto, Tamara Palmer (Broaddus), Amy Gibson, Thomas Gibson (Christina), Fred Kriesel, Craig Kriesel (Taylor), Maria Reese (Willy), Crafton Wilkes (Sarah), Ashley Wilkes (Erika) and Turner Wilkes; his stepgrandchildren, Brian Arthur (Jessica), Christina Hale (Travis), Michael Beeghly (Casey) and Haley Ginther; and his great grandchildren, Nora, Lillian Hurt, Susie Hutto, MaKai, MaKynzie Palmer, Will, Zach, Rosalie, Kiyah, Evelyn, Lucas Gibson, Felicity, Coen, Sofia, Mina Wilkes, Aiden, Abby Arthur, Emma, Carter and Wyatt Beeghly. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 8th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Flora Funeral Service (665 S Main St, Rocky Mount, VA 24151). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, November 8th 2025 at the Mountain View Memorial Park (5970 Grassy Hill Rd, Boones Mill, VA 24065).
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Rocky Mount Baptist Church or Highland United Methodist Church.
