Mary Lois touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Vernon Smith and Carrie Dudley Smith; her husband Woodrow Wilson Berger; her siblings, Theodie, Irvin, Wray, Vernice Smith and Ruby Smith Barnes; and her siblings' children, Tara Tinsley, Corey Tinsley and Alonza Smith.
She is survived by: her daughter Trudy Moore; her granddaughter LaShara Moore; her great grandchild Saadiq Harrison-Moore; her sibling's children, Renelda Barnes, Cara Lea Barnes, Charles Tinsley, Jr. and Michael Calloway (Lucy); and her great-nieces, Alexis Tinsley and Kazia Crump. She is also survived by other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing will be held on Monday, October 20th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home & Crematory – Rocky Mount (195 Maple Ave, Rocky Mount, VA 24151). Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the First Baptist Church - Rocky Mount (45 Patterson Ave, Rocky Mount, VA 24151). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 at the Lovely Valley Baptist Church Cemetery (836 Lovely Valley Rd, Wirtz, VA 24184).
