We are sad to announce that, on November 14, 2025, at the age of 81, Shirley Mae Rader of Rocky Mount, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Cleveland Henry Nichols and Lou Ella Hall Nichols; her sons, Mark Andrew Shorter and Jimmy Robert Shorter; and her siblings, Donald Wayne Nichols and Doris Hattie Sumrell.
She is survived by: her husband Norris Edward Rader; her daughters, Lisa Marie Hunn and Lucy Florentine Underwood; her stepdaughters, Sandra Sheesley, Pamela Sue McNeil and Donna Lynn Rice; and her grandchildren, Josh, Laurie, Heather of Cheyenne, C. J., T. J., Cory, Dakota, Crystal, Jennifer, Santana, Shirley, Ally and Nikki. She is also survived by 29 great-grandchildren.
