We announce the death of Martha Sue Carter of Round Hill, Virginia, who passed away on September 22, 2026, at the age of 81. Martha will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Martha will be remembered for the impact she had on the lives of those around her. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Martha will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture her life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Martha’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued her companionship.
She was predeceased by: her husband William "Buddy" Burns. She is survived by: her daughter Anita Burns Monroe (Stephen Monroe); her grandsons, Josh and Chris Monroe; and her sister Margie Theis.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Ebenezer Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice or Unison United Methodist Church in Sue's memory.
