We are sad to announce that, on December 1, 2025, at the age of 93, Barbara Brown of Salem, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul Shelton Ames and Frances May Ferguson Ames; her significant other Maxwell Brown; her husband Mel Hollandsworth; her siblings, Helen Jean Proctor (Jack) and David S. Ames (Carol); her daughter-in-law Lisa G. Brown; her grandson Joshua A. Brown; her mother-in-law Georgie D. Brown; and her sister-in-law Martha B. Mayo (Wiley).
She is survived by: her children, Shelton Brown Duffy (Ritchie), Alexander Brown, Elizabeth Brown Repass (Michael) and Gibson M. Brown (Joanna); her grandchildren, Alison Brown Duffy (Carlos Perez), Caitlin Elise Duffy, Harper Johnson, Heather Lee Diderich (Charles), Andrew Repass (Dianna), Megan Ellis (Buck), John Thomas Repass, Rachel Brown (Lex Santisteban) and Maxwell Brown; and her great grandchildren, Noah, Ashlyn, Maya and Hollis. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to Salem Presbyterian Church or a charity of choice.
