With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Carol Bateman of Salem, Virginia, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Carol left this world on September 6, 2025 at the age of 89, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She is survived by: her children, Mary Catherine Alcoke (Tom Alcoke) and George O. "Trey" Bateman III (Laura Bateman); and her family Carol. She is also survived by two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Good Samaritan Hospice in Roanoke, Va., in honor of Carol's compassionate spirit and the care they provided.
