He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Ashton Downey, Sr. and Doris Marie Downey Byer; and his granddaughter Kimber Grace. He is survived by: his wife Deborah Crans Downey; his daughters, Renea Guill (Shane) and Melissa Downey; his brother Danny Byer; his grandchildren, M'Kenzie, Ashton, Ellie and Luke; and his friend Ernie Fowler. He is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel (305 Roanoke Blvd, Salem, VA 24153). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 2:00 PM at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel (305 Roanoke Blvd, Salem, VA 24153).
