We announce the death of Eudora Earnest Poff in Salem, Virginia, born in Alexandria, Louisiana, who passed away on September 6, 2026, at the age of 101. Eudora will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Eudora’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued her companionship.
She was predeceased by: her husband Fred L. Poff, Jr.; her son Ronald L. Poff; her parents, Jesse Earnest and Lovie Earnest; and her brother Floyd "Buddy" W. Earnest (Jesse Clyde Earnest).
She is survived by: her daughters, Denise P. Durham and Doreen P. Tolley; and her daughter-in-law Vickie Poff. She is also survived by five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Simpson Funeral Home Peters Creek Chapel (5160 Peters Creek Rd, Roanoke, VA 24019). A graveside service was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens (5731 Airport Rd NW, Roanoke, VA 24012).
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Dora's name to a charity of your choice.
