He was predeceased by: his former wives, Billie Lee Bates Chapman and Page Clark Chapman; his parents, William Frank Chapman, Sr. and Wilma Cross Chapman; and his sister Lula Cross Harris Russell.
He is survived by: his wife Julie Stagg Chapman; his children, Lee Ann Chapman Critz (Blake Critz) of Salem, Frank Bates Chapman of Roanoke and Catherine Chapman Mosley of Charlottesville; and his grandchildren, Sara Catherine Critz Kronstain, Emma, Thomas (Matthew) and Benjamin Lee Critz. He is also survived by stepchildren with beautiful children and grandchildren.
