He was predeceased by: his parents, Terry Samuel and Ima West (Saunders); his siblings, Eura Banner, Terry West and John William West; his siblings-in-law, James Turner, Clyde Banner, Esther West and Bobbie West; his daughter-in-law Jennifer West; and his nephew Jamie Turner.

He is survived by: his uncle John Grover West; his sons, Mark (Kathryn) and David (Denise) of Huddleston, VA; his wife Virginia "Jenny" West of Salem, VA; his grandsons, John of Floyd, VA and Sam (Lisa); his great grandchildren, Chloe, Jackson and Katelyn; his siblings, Mary Alice Turner of Salem, VA and Richard West of Chattanooga, TN.; Mary, Erma, Alice, Willie and Dolly.
