He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn O. Thornhill, Sr. and Mary Fogg Thornhill; his sister Joyce Whiddon Bruns; and his children, Wyatt Nelson Thornhill, Brian Hamilton Thornhill and Alyssa Chilton Thornhill.
He is survived by: his wife Joanne Bailey Thornhill; his sisters, Mary Alice Bodenhorst (Jeoff) and Mona Armistead (Bob); his children, Christine Hall Thornhill (Sean Hyde), Kelly Thornhill Farber (Corley), G. O. Thornhill III (Kris) and David Thomas Thornhill (Astrid); and his grandchildren, Hunter, Olivia, Oliver, Ben, Lolly, John and Lucas. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Lotz Funeral Home (1330 E Main St, Salem, VA 24153). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church (42 E Main St, Salem, VA 24153).
