With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Leona Ruth Willett of Salem, Virginia, who passed away on July 26, 2025 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Elbert Thompson and Fannie Thompson; her husband Robert Willett Sr.; and her sons, Robert Willett Jr. and Benjamin Willett.
She is survived by: her grandchildren, Heather Case (Travis), Lauren Norville (Jamie), Christopher Willett (Carla) and Jonathan Willett (Kristie); her great grandchildren, Mason, Jaxon Case, Cameron Willett, Landon Willett and Kinsley Willett; and her sisters-in-law, Peggy Thompson, Jenny Thompson and Elaine Thompson. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel (305 Roanoke Blvd, Salem, VA 24153). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
Leona Ruth Thompson Willett, 92, of Salem, Virginia, passed into the loving arms of her Savior on Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. The race is finished, and the victory has been won.
