Leona Iris Thompson Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Leona Iris Thompson of Salem, Virginia, who passed away on February 22, 2024, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband William Clark Thompson; her parents, Harry Granville Young and Dorothy Myrtle Brown Young; her siblings, Mamie Ellen Ferguson, Jack Kenneth Young, Juanita Shirley McKinney, Harry Granville Young, Jr. and Wallace Howard Young; and her children-in-law, Cheryl Hodges and Michael L. Shepherd.

She is survived by: her children, Christine Ann Sigmon, Will Calvin Hodges, Jr., Jackie Sue Carr (James Qualles Carr), Michael Wayne Thompson (Cynthia Dawn Thompson) and Deborah Thompson Shepherd; and her siblings, Paul Millard Young and Joyce Naomi Humphries. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and many other loving relatives and friends.

The family requests in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Alzheimer's Association in our mother's name.
