She was predeceased by: her parents, William Dowell Butler and Carrie Kelly Butler; and her husband Charlie Brown Sowder. She is survived by: her children, Jeff Charles Sowder (Marlene) of Roanoke, VA and Charlene Sowder Gowdey (David) of Dallas, TX; her grandchildren, Mary Catherine Sowder Nesaw (Chris) of Lynchburg, Laura Meredith Sowder (Bryce D'Surney) of Richmond, Mary Margaret Gowdey, Hank Gowdey of Dallas, TX and David Gowdey, Jr. (Lil) of Jackson, MS.; her great grandchildren, Evie Gowdey, Ezekiel "Zeke" Nesaw and Mary Butler of Pearisburg, VA.; and her caregivers, Terri, Brenda and Veda.
