He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel C. Motley and Rosie Bolling Motley. He is survived by: his spouse Shirley H. Motley; his daughters, Bonnie Motley and Connie Scribner (Jeff); his stepgranddaughters, Megan and Samantha Scribner; and his sisters, Pauline Holland and Sallie Savage.
