With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Sara Cole Aubitz of Salem, Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 7, 2025 at the age of 96. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Sara Cole Aubitz to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles David Cole and Hattie Loretta Morrison Cole; her husband Edward C. Aubitz; and her siblings, Charles Cole (Addie), Velma Taylor (Charles), Judy Little (Bill), Bob Cole (Jean), Jim Cole (Ann), Jean Doss (Roy) and Ina Widener (Daily).
She is survived by: her children, Sharon N. Munsey (Randy) of Fort Myers, FL and Bill "David" Neeley (Cheryle) of Roanoke, VA; her grandchildren, Bryan Munsey (Katie), F. D. Singleton, IV (April) and Brooke NiCole Dean (Jared); her great grandchildren, Victoria Overstreet, Gage Singleton, Cora Singleton, Owen Singleton, Kinsley Dean and Levi Dean; and her great great grandchild Mabel Mae Hale. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 19th 2025 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the Garrett Funeral Home (203 N Shady Ave, Damascus, VA 24236). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 19th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Sunday, October 19th 2025 at 3:45 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Abingdon United Methodist Church, 101 E. Main St., Abingdon, VA 24210 or St. Phillip Lutheran Church, 8115 Williamson Rd., Roanoke, VA 24019.
