We announce the death of Wendell Cornelius Johns of Salem, Virginia, who passed away on October 22, 2026, at the age of 83. Wendell will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Cornelius Johns and Naomi Frances Barbour Johns; his wife Eva Lois Johns "Bunny"; his daughter Cindy Hale; his grandson Larry Hale, Jr.; and his sister Charlotte Shelton.
He is survived by: his daughter Kathy Daniel (Bobby); and his siblings, Evelyn Cruise and Gary Johns (Diane).
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home and Crematory (305 Roanoke Blvd, Salem, VA 24153). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the Butts Cemetery.
