He is survived by: his wife Delores Mitchell; his children, Laura "Lori" Hanshew (Danny), Wendell Grizzle (Charlene), Calvin Grizzle (Crystal Rittenhouse) and Westley Mitchell (Tiffany); and his siblings, Wayne Mitchell, Retha Moore, Ellen Mitchell, Lisa Mitchell and Amy Mitchell. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
