She was predeceased by: her husband Richard Volney Townsend; her sons, Raymond and Kevin Townsend; and her grandchildren, Cara Chapin and Tyler Page.
She is survived by: her children, Janet Chapin (David), Nancy Scott, Susan Hinds, Joann Page (James), Thomas Townsend, Christopher Townsend, James Townsend (Judy) and Sara Luther (Mike). She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 2nd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Lower United Methodist Church (120 Lower Church Rd, Hartfield, VA 23071).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts may be made in her honor to Lower United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 98, Hartfield, VA, 23071, The American Red Cross.
