We announce the death of Joan Elizabeth Rowan (Sandston, Virginia), who passed away on July 5, 2026, at the age of 88. Joan will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Hunter Rodgers and Evelyn Curran Rodgers; and her husband Hugh Harvey Rowan of Queen's University. She is survived by: her daughter Amanda Rowan Browde (Stephen Carl Browde); her grandson Stephen William (Mary Beth); her great grandchild Ave Reese; her daughter Sandra Elise; her grandson James Brouse; her son Jeremy Harvey Rowan (Stephanie Dawn); her grandchildren, Nathaniel Harvey and Daphne Elizabeth; and her great grandchild Christopher Hamilton Rowan.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Crater Community Hospice (CraterCommunityHospice.org), in recognition of the kindness and care that their staff showed to Joan and her family during her final days.
