With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Shirley V Tate of Sandston, Virginia, born in Richmond, Virginia, who passed away on January 9, 2026 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Garland E. Tate; her son Warren Douglas Tate; her siblings, Lucille Vaughan, Frances Vaughan Patterson, Katherine Vaughan Martin, William Vaughan, Preston Vaughan, Carlton Vaughan and Charlie Vaughan; and her parents, William Preston Vaughan and Carrie Ethel Giddings Vaughan.
She is survived by: her caregivers, Martha, Sandra and Cindy. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of special nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Richmond SPCA, the American Diabetes Association, Sandston Baptist Church, or Trinity Hospice, 16 East Spring St., Fayetteville, AR 72701.
