He was a USCG veteran. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 7, 1955, he was the son of the late, Herman Leroy Swinson and Shirley Ann Taylor. He is survived by his loving wife, Jere Marie Swinson; his son, Troy Evan Swinson; three daughters, Mimi Rena Leeann Swinson (Robbie), Cheyenne Lee Swinson (Clay), Ruby Pearl Swinson; his brother Michael Leroy Swinson (Nixsa); sister Joann Swinson Teal (Billy); his nephews, Michael Swinson, Jonathan Swinson, and Shawn Teal; niece Jamie Vick; and three grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Judy Pollard (Drew); and brothers-in-law, Jack Horne (Alycia) and Gary Beattie.
Steve has achieved much in his life and received many accolades; however, his most treasured time was spent with people. First and foremost, he loved his family beyond measure and would do anything for them. Secondly, he loved everyone else. He never met a stranger. Steve spent time and conversations with people he just met that most of us would pass by. He loved to joke and make people laugh. Steve would do anything for anyone, and he will be missed immensely. Services will be held to honor Steve and his life.
