He was predeceased by : his parents, Charles T. Wood and Ora Gay Yopp; his brother Arthur Wood; his brother-in-law Hobert Mills; and his sister Mattie McGuire.

He is survived by : his wife Mary Ellen Wood; his children, Mary Anissa Wood and Mike Gene Wood (Renee Wells); his grandsons, Kevin Wood (Stella Carter), Michael Wood, Tanner Cherry, Tony Odham and Damon Wood; his great grandchildren, Makayla Wood, Jasmine Wood and Charlie Mason; his sister Lilly Blankenship; and his sister-in-law Edna Wood. He is also survived by his family, friends.

He dedicated himself to his work and made lasting contributions to his field.
